PROJECT 2: Street Fighter Design


PROJECT PREMISE
 
-        Choose FOUR characters to redesign from Street Fighter series (any of the different games)
-        Must have significant and obvious shape differences between each character depending on their personality/fighting style
-        Characters must remain as they were (No robotic or gender changes, etc.)
-        The Combat System must remain the same (one on one combat)
-        The proportions of the character must fit the fighting style of said character (e.g. Zangief moves a lot more slowly than Cammy)


AREA OF FREEDOM

-        You can change the culture of each character. Example: Chun Li does not have to be Asian.
-        Understanding the role of story and personality behind character design
-        You can have a “themed” Street Fighter redesign. Example: Zombie Street Fighter, Western Cowboy Street Fighter, Russian Grandmother/Grandfather Mafia Street Fighter, etc.

GOAL OF THE ASSIGNMENT

-        Shape design and shape function
-        Understanding form design to fit functionality
-        Gain understanding of silhouette design
-        Understanding the role of story and personality behind character design













FINAL RESULT (Week 4)

-        4 final character designs including work done to get to final 
-        You must show basic understanding of shape archetypes





LIMITATIONS

-        You cannot copy the original Street Fighter designs. You must come up with your own unique designs.
-        Keep project style range in stylized 3D, no strong realism and no flat 2d shapes.
-        KEEP IT SIMPLE!! You only have 4 weeks to complete this project

WEEK 4 HOMEWORK

-        1 page pitch explaining setting choice/theme for this project (bullet points) + explanation of character backgrounds/fighting style/personality
-        1 page shape exploration per character (4 pages total)
